Safe Space
The first thing to know about Adventist Alumni is that we are people who, like people everywhere, care about many things. In particular, the two specific things that concern and motivate us are these:
1. The future of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
2. Intellectual freedom within that church.
Our Mission
Share
Exercise our right to intellectual freedom within the SDA church. We co-exist with the church but insist on expressing our ideas to reflect our own freedom to think and believe as they see fit.
Safe space
Create a place for Adventist who range all the way from people who attend church each Sabbath to people who have not been inside a church for many years. All are welcomed here.
Examine
We hope your ideas of God and faith are strong. Yet, it is our mission to suggest you examine your faith, fully realizing that so doing might very well move you to adjust it, to polish it, making your commitment stronger than ever, based on your intellectual examination of your beliefs.
It Is Not Our Mission to…
Straighten out the SDA church. While we promote intellectual freedom here, we do not attack either people or organizations. Having said that, we are not above gently chiding a church leader who takes a position we feel is contrary to intellectual freedom.
Influence or comment on church politics or government politics. We do not want to know how you vote.
Encourage people to cut their ties to Adventism or leave the church. We do not want to get between you and your God nor between you and your faith. Whether or not your concepts of God, Faith, and Church change based upon Articles published here is entirely up to you. For greater insight read more thoughts about Adventist Alumni.
